Vibhishana explained that Ahiravana planned to sacrifice them to the goddess Kamakhya for power. Hanuman immediately descended to Patala, a labyrinthine realm. At the entrance, he encountered and defeated Makaradhwaja (his own son, born from a drop of his sweat that fell into the ocean).
